Homemade White Flour Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose white flour
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1¼ cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • ¼ cup warm milk

Step-by-Step Method

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

In a bowl, add warm water, sugar, and yeast.
Mix gently and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.


Step 2: Make the Dough

Add warm milk, butter/oil, salt, and 2 cups flour.
Mix well, then slowly add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.


Step 3: Knead the Dough

Place dough on a floured surface.
Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.


Step 4: First Rise

Put the dough in a lightly oiled bowl.
Cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.


Step 5: Shape the Bread

Punch down the dough gently.
Shape it into a loaf and place in a greased bread pan.


Step 6: Second Rise

Cover again and let it rise for 30–40 minutes until puffy.


Step 7: Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.


Step 8: Cool & Serve

Remove from pan and let cool before slicing.
