- Total: 45 minutes
- Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups brewed hibiscus tea (cooled)
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 cup cold sparkling water or still water
- Ice cubes
For Garnish
- Fresh blueberries
- Blackberries
- Lemon slices
- Fresh mint leaves
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Brew the Tea
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Steep hibiscus tea bags (or 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers) for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool completely.
Step 2: Blend the Berries
Add the blueberries, blackberries, lemon juice, honey, ginger, and cooled hibiscus tea to a blender. Blend until completely smooth.
Step 3: Strain (Optional)
For a silky-smooth drink, pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing gently with a spoon to extract all the liquid. Skip this step if you enjoy a thicker, smoothie-like texture.
Step 4: Add Water
Stir in the sparkling water or still water. Taste and adjust the sweetness or lemon juice if needed.
Step 5: Chill
Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until thoroughly chilled.
Step 6: Serve
Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the Purple Elixir over the ice.
Step 7: Garnish
Top each glass with fresh blueberries, blackberries, a lemon slice, and a sprig of mint for a beautiful presentation.
Tips
- Use frozen berries for an extra-cold drink without watering it down.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm, spiced flavor.
- Blend in chia seeds for extra fiber and texture.
- For a sweeter version, add a little more honey or maple syrup.
- Freeze leftover Purple Elixir into popsicle molds for a refreshing frozen treat.
Storage
Store the Purple Elixir in a sealed pitcher or bottle in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir well before serving, as natural ingredients may settle.
