Prep Time: 10 minutes · Cook Time: 12–18 minutes · Total Time: 22–28 minutes · Servings: 4

Air Fryer Cauliflower is a simple, flavorful side dish with crispy golden edges and tender centers. Coated in olive oil, garlic, paprika, and herbs, this easy recipe is perfect for a healthy snack, a quick side dish, or a low-carb dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cauliflower (about 600–700 g)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cauliflower

  1. Wash the cauliflower thoroughly under running water.
  2. Remove the green leaves and trim the tough stem.
  3. Cut the cauliflower into evenly sized, bite-sized florets.
  4. Pat the florets completely dry using a clean kitchen towel. Removing excess moisture helps the cauliflower crisp up.

Step 2: Season the Cauliflower

  1. Place the cauliflower florets in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  3. Add garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Toss everything together until the florets are evenly coated.
  5. If using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it over the cauliflower and toss again.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for approximately 3 minutes, if required by your model.
  2. Lightly grease the air fryer basket if necessary to prevent sticking.

Step 4: Arrange the Cauliflower

  1. Place the seasoned cauliflower in the air fryer basket.
  2. Spread the florets into a single layer, leaving space between the pieces.
  3. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.

Step 5: Air Fry Until Crispy

  1. Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 12–18 minutes.
  2. Shake the basket or turn the florets halfway through cooking.
  3. Check after 12 minutes to see whether the edges are turning golden brown.
  4. Continue cooking until the outside is crispy and the inside is fork-tender.
  5. Add another 2–3 minutes if you prefer extra-crispy cauliflower, checking frequently to prevent burning.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  1. Transfer the cooked cauliflower to a serving plate.
  2. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.
  3. Squeeze a little lemon juice over the top, if desired.
  4. Serve immediately while warm for the best crispy texture.

Tips for the Best Results

  • Dry the cauliflower well: Wet florets tend to steam instead of crisp.
  • Cut evenly: Similar-sized pieces cook at approximately the same rate.
  • Don’t overcrowd: Leave room for hot air to circulate around each floret.
  • Use enough seasoning: Toss thoroughly to distribute the garlic, paprika, and herbs.
  • Watch the Parmesan: If using cheese, check frequently near the end because it can brown quickly.

How to Store

  • Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days.
  • Reheating: Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 3–5 minutes to restore some crispness.
  • Freezer: Freeze in an airtight container for up to 2 months, although the texture may soften.
  • Meal prep: Cut and dry the cauliflower ahead of time, then season just before cooking.
