These homemade keto sourdough-style bagels are soft inside, golden outside, and packed with cheesy flavor. They have that classic chewy bagel texture with a slight tangy taste, making them perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or an easy low-carb snack.
Ingredients
For the Bagels
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 tbsp psyllium husk powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp salt
For the Topping
- Sesame seeds
- Everything bagel seasoning
- Poppy seeds (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper so the bagels don’t stick.
Step 2: Melt the Cheese
Add the mozzarella cheese and cream cheese to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for about 45–60 seconds until melted. Stir well until smooth and stretchy.
Step 3: Mix the Dough
In the same bowl, add almond flour, psyllium husk powder, baking powder, salt, apple cider vinegar, and the egg. Mix everything together until a soft dough forms.
If the dough feels sticky, lightly oil your hands before kneading.
Step 4: Shape the Bagels
Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope shape, then join the ends together to form a bagel.
Place them on the prepared baking tray.
Step 5: Add the Toppings
Sprinkle sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning on top for extra flavor and crunch.
Step 6: Bake
Bake the bagels for 18–22 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top.
Step 7: Cool and Serve
Allow the bagels to cool for a few minutes before slicing. They become even chewier as they cool.
