π©βπ³ Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
Grease a 9Γ5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving some paper hanging over the sides for easy removal.
Step 2: Prepare the Blueberries
Place the blueberries in a small bowl and gently toss them with 1 tablespoon of flour.
This light coating helps keep the berries from sinking completely to the bottom of the loaf.
Set them aside.
Step 3: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together:
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
Set aside.
Step 4: Cream the Butter and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar for about 2β3 minutes, until light and fluffy.
This step helps create a soft texture.
Step 5: Add the Eggs
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Don’t worry if the mixture looks slightly curdledβit will come together when the dry ingredients are added.
Step 6: Add the Sour Cream
Add the sour cream or Greek yogurt and mix until just combined.
The sour cream helps make the loaf moist and tender.
Step 7: Combine the Batter
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
Mix gently until just combined.
Do not overmix, or the loaf may become dense.
Step 8: Fold in the Blueberries
Gently fold the flour-coated blueberries into the batter using a spatula.
Be careful not to crush the berries.
Step 9: Make the Cream Cheese Filling
In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and flour.
Mix until creamy and well combined.
Step 10: Layer the Loaf
Spread about half of the blueberry batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over the batter.
Spread the remaining blueberry batter on top.
Smooth the surface gently with a spatula.
Step 11: Bake
Place the loaf in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 55β65 minutes.
The top should be golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the cake portion should come out mostly clean.
If the top starts browning too quickly, loosely cover the loaf with aluminum foil during the last 15β20 minutes.
Step 12: Cool Completely
Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15β20 minutes.
Use the parchment paper to carefully lift it from the pan.
Transfer it to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely before slicing.
Because of the cream cheese layer, letting it cool fully helps the loaf set properly.
π Optional Lemon Glaze
Whisk together powdered sugar, lemon juice or milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze over the completely cooled loaf.
For an extra fresh flavor, lemon juice pairs especially well with the blueberries.
πͺ Step 13: Slice and Serve
Once completely cooled, slice the loaf with a sharp knife.
Serve as-is or with an extra handful of fresh blueberries on top.

π‘ Tips for the Best Blueberry Cream Cheese Loaf
- Use room-temperature cream cheese, butter, and eggs for a smoother batter.
- Fresh blueberries work beautifully, but frozen blueberries can also be used. Do not thaw them first.
- Coat blueberries lightly with flour to help distribute them throughout the loaf.
- Avoid overmixing the batter.
- Let the loaf cool completely before slicing so the cream cheese layer can firm up.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator because of the cream cheese filling.
